Temporary Food Assistance Program

The Temporary Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a Lagos Food Bank Initiative project designed to provide immediate food and relief support to vulnerable families in low-income communities across Lagos and surrounding areas.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR TEFAP SUPPORT?

TEFAP is targeted at:

• Families experiencing extreme poverty
• Individuals living in underserved communities
• Vulnerable groups such as widows, low-income households, and walk-in beneficiaries

HOW DOES TEFAP WORK?

There are two main distribution models:

1. COMMUNITY OUT REACH DISTRIBUTION
   • Large-scale food relief events in selected communities
   • Food vouchers are distributed in advance and exchanged on the outreach day
2. WALK-IN DISTRIBUTION
   • Individuals visit the Food Bank Warehouse directly
   • Especially suited for daily access to food items by widows and underserved individuals

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A TEFAP BOX OF HOPE?

Each Box of Hope contains essential food and non-food items to sustain a family of five for about two weeks.

CONTENTS INCLUDE:

• FOOD: Rice, garri, tomato paste, sardines, spaghetti, noodles, wheat, cornflakes, seasoning cubes, milk, sugar, groundnut oil
• NON-FOOD: Toothbrush, sanitary pads, etc.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO SUPPORT A FAMILY THROUGH TEFAP?

To feed one family of 5:

• STANDARD BOX: ₦25,000
• PREMIUM BOX: ₦30,000
