PROBLEM STATEMENT
In Nigeria, the challenges of hunger, poverty, and malnutrition significantly impact vulnerable communities. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), 63% of Nigeria’s population lives in multidimensional poverty, with rural areas facing even higher rates at 72%. This crisis severely limits access to nutritious food, especially for women and youth in underserved communities.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Family Farming Program is an initiative of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative designed to promote food security and sustainable livelihoods. It empowers low-income families—particularly women and youth—by equipping them to establish and manage small-scale vegetable, poultry, and snail farms within their homes.
Beneficiaries are selected based on need and space availability in their urban households. They receive:

To date, 84 beneficiaries have successfully established their own farms through the program.
