CONNECTING SKILLS TO OPPORTUNITY
PROBLEM STATEMENT
As of the first quarter of 2024, Nigeria’s unemployment rate rose to 5.3%, marking the third consecutive increase since the third quarter of 2023 (5.0%). This steady rise highlights the country’s wider economic challenges. A lack of gainful employment is a critical socio-political issue that contributes to poverty, hunger, social unrest, and reduced national productivity.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Job Placement Program is a strategic initiative by Lagos Food Bank to address the root causes of hunger and malnutrition, particularly poverty and unemployment. The program empowers beneficiaries by helping them secure jobs so they can sustain themselves, contribute meaningfully to the economy, and reduce dependence on food relief.
